Jon Molina | Director of Programs
As Director of Programs,
Jon oversees the development, implementation, and quality of services for individuals receiving support through Symbol of Open Arms, ensuring all experiences are compassionate, effective, and person-centered.
Jon is a San Diego native with over a decade of hands-on experience supporting adults of all ages on the autism spectrum and individuals with other learning differences. He brings warmth, patience, and consistency to his work, along with a deep respect for the people he supports.
If you meet Jon, you quickly understand why participants and families feel at ease with him. His sincerity is clear. He connects with people through steady presence and honest engagement, not through performance or titles. He treats everyone with the same respect, whether they are a client, a professional, or someone he has just met.
Jon believes in working alongside the people he supports and never asks someone to do something he would not do himself. His experience includes Independent Living Skills and Services (ILS), Tailored Day Services Options (TDS/TDSO), Direct Support Professional III (DSP) roles, social club facilitation, hands-on job coaching, and supporting individuals with a wide range of communication needs and behaviors.
He focuses on building steady routines, strengthening confidence, and helping individuals expand their comfort and connection within their communities. Jon creates space for people to advocate for themselves and supports them without pressure or imposed expectations. When guidance is needed, he offers it in a way that is calm, practical, and respectful.
Through consistent, personalized support, Jon helps people build skills, develop meaningful relationships, and move toward greater independence. He believes everyone deserves the opportunity to live a confident and self-directed life.
Outside of his professional work, Jon enjoys local art shows, visiting museums, and spending time BBQing with family and friends. He stays connected to the community he serves and values being part of it.
